internetchesskiller 3.1 stops working

it starts playing normally, two green dots, then all of a sudden one of them gets red and stops moving. i have noticed most of the times it stops right after queen or rook exchanges, also it happens when it tries to move to fast, and apparently wants to do an illegal move, so it stops. anybody had this problem? any solutions for this?

What version of Windows are you using ? Also what GUI are you using ICK 3.1 with ? ICK works best with older Windows versions. This was true of ICK 1.71 and ICK 3.1 - the author himself acknowledges this. Even if you have Windows 7,8 or 10 you can install XP as a dual boot in a separate partition or inside a virtual PC so that ICK is running on XP even though your main OS is Windows 7/8/10.

It also works best with oldrr versions of Fritz - works best under the old Fritz 9 or 10 - less well on later versions, as the graphics got more sophisticated in these GUIs which can intefer with the board recognition that ICK relies on to work properly.

So ideal combination is older Windows + older GUI.

im using 8.1, but i have tried it with 7 also and the results are about the same. i haven't tried it with xp, only in compatibility with. and im using ICK 3.1 since apparently its the only one that works for this site that i play chess at.
are there any other programs that work like ICK by capturing the board onscreen?

anyway, thanks for your reply. i will give it a go using XP and see how that works.
