Slightly confused!?!?

Post by zappa79 »

I am trying to fine tune a book I made and I tought that this site: http://chessopeningsdatabase.com/ would be a good reference for that!

However I am very confused about how that site actually works!
Are the moves on top the best moves for each side?
If I look at the win percentage, then the highest numbers are not always on top!

So what do I look for, the top suggested move or the move with highest percentage?

Thank you in advance for any help in this matter!

I visited that site, the moves on top are the ones played the more number of games and as you observed not necesarilly the ones with better wining porcentage.

Please note that I am just answering your question. I woudn't use a database to tune a book. Databases are used to make the intial book, fine tuning IMO is accomplished thru deep analizis of positions, using for analizis the engine you intent to use that book with.

Good luck,
Using engines to cheat:
- It is not ethical,
- It is useless, nothing is gained (how can one be proud of a score earn with dishonesty?)
- You will be baned, sooner or later,
- It gives us (the true chess engine players) a bad reputation.

Thanks for the advice, but how about drawn games? Can I improve on those too?
It is very rarely that I loose games, but I very often have drawn games even though I have an OC I7 975!

Thanks
