Sorry but I'd like to ask another 2 questions,

So number 1, can someone explain me in simple words what's the flag / autoflag? :smile20
2. Just out of curiosity, could everyone post how is your ping on games.yahoo.com and where are you from exactly? I'd like to know especially how much ping does a Californian have. Thanks all.

Flag will force the game ends when clock reaches 0:00 and Yahoo soooo dumb to finishes it sometimes. About ping, i think there is a topic somewhere where members posted their pings long time ago.

Thanks, unfortunately I didn't find that topic, I only found some posts about it where people pinged another Yahoo Sever. (I think the old one, now Yahoo changed his servers I guess, it's 76.13.116.125 now). Could I open a new one, please? Thanks.

By the way, seems that yahoo has changed the servers another time, look at these screen shot,

http://prntscr.com/2yjyy

http://prntscr.com/2yk0n

My pings have been decreased a lot, good for me since I'm a 1/0 player 8)

How is your ping now with these new servers?

Why you guys ping games.yahoo.com? <---- That is not the chess server.

You should ping the chess server you are connected to (there is more than one and at least two) depending in the room you are logged in to. I do not remember if the Java and the Flash servers are the same, maybe there are more servers.

You can open a command prompt and run the command "netstat -a" without the quotes to see the machines you are connected to. One example is:
yog30.games.ac4.yahoo.com

So, then you run the command "ping yog30.games.ac4.yahoo.com" without the quotes. I got a 53 mS response this morning.

Note: The room and table opcodes are TCP/IP packets and Yahoo server process them thru port 11999, the ping respond/request is an ICMP packet therefor pings are handled differently. Almost nobody pings the server, in the other hand, port 11999 is handling hundreds or thousands of connections at the same time, expect the the real lag to be somewhat higher than the ping average.

Hmm, that's kinda weird actually, because if you try to download Flagfox for Chrome (or Firefox if have it) (it's a plugin for the browser that display you the IP address and the current location of the website you're on) If you try to see the IP address when you are on the chess server, for example in the ADV_B, it appears to me 188.125.77.51, which is located in Switzerland, pretty close to me 8) and to be honest, in the last cople of weeks, I have noticed an improvement of my speed  I'd say almost imperceptible but I'm pretty sure I noticed it, could it be power of suggestion maybe? :hhh

P.S.: I just got a 162 ms response from yog29.games.ac4.yahoo.com  and a 85 ms response from 188.125.77.51
