The English instructions page here is now updated

http://www.members.cox.net/zozur/

It also shows you more clearly how to set up Winboards shortcut target line. I know a few people have had problems with this.

To tell you the truth, I've explained how to load a .ctg book into a Cb software several times in this forum, but you guys insist on not looking around the forum; nevertheless, I'm gonna explain it once more:

1-) Copy your book into the folder My Documents-Chessbase-Books.
http://uploaded.to/?id=qczxl6
2-) Then, open your Cb program, and go to File-New-Opening Book, and select the book you've just copied.
http://uploaded.to/?id=8g37qv
http://uploaded.to/?id=ylre1x
3-) Your book is ready to be used by your engine.
http://uploaded.to/?id=f0cdk3

I hope this helps.

i checked again all what i've done! it seems that the winboard the tutoriel yay author has described is not exactly the same one i've downloaded! he spoke about winboard.exe and winboard232.exe when i have only winboard without the extension .exe!! and that what troubles me i think!!
can you do something m.t_mode!!
thank you very much. tue_ouche.

Go to your winboard folder, in the menu bar click on Tools, then click on "Folder Options", now click on the "View" tab, uncheck where it says "Hide extensions for known file types".

Now you should be able to see the extension of "known" files like executables(.exe), batch(.bat), text(.txt), excel spreadsheets (.xls), etc., etc., etc.

The list of know files depends on what files had been associated to a program in each particular computer. For example, if you have ActivePerl installed, YaY.pl will be shown just as YaY, but if you uncheck the option I mentioned above the extension will be shown: YaY.pl

You should click in YES.

If you dont want that message to appear, and if you want to improve your endgame strength you should download the 5 piece Nalimov endgame tablebases. Use google to find places where you can download them.

Can someone please send me the Fritz10.exe and all the things needed to make it work? (In your installed directory). Can someone can, please? So I can try out YaY too.
I don't know half of you, half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you, half as well as you deserve. Confused? Good. Sign of normality.

just one funny thing now!! my yay boots anyone has less than my rating!? what can i do to avoid that!!
i had set the boot command for less than 1700!! he boots even guys that have more than 1900!! my rating being 2200!!

amazing no!!

notice for fun that it would be fair to avoid playing against fellows having yay too; so my yay is doing a good job!lol!

thank you all! tue_mouche.

The maximum rating in Yahho chess is 3500 and the minimum rating is 100. So the maximum diffferential rating possible is 3400.

If you want your script to never boot anyone, even if you have 3500 points and someone with 100 points sits, type "formula 3400" without the quotes of course.

Note that this will defeat the purpose of this feature and any bloodsucker will try to drain your points, but if that is what you want, then that is your answer.

You can follow this path: Edit/Opening Book/Import Games, here choose your tablebase.

Or, you can select your bases by following this path as well: Tools/Options/Tablebase.

Of course, all your bases should be copied to the necessary directory before doing these.

You can also have a look at these links to get some bases:

ftp://ftp.cis.uab.edu/pub/hyatt/TB/3-4-5/

http://kirr.homeunix.org/chess/tablebases-online/

Here are some for prominent Nalimov bases:

http://www.chesskit.com/download/nalimov/

Keep in mind that programs older than Fritz 8 and Hiarcs 9 cannot be used for Nalimov 6 Tablebases.
