"STUCI Windows" Troubleshooting FAQ

Post by zappa_engine »

Q: What is STUCI Windows?
A: It is software based on the original Chessy interface. It has a built-in GUI, and can handle tasks as connecting to Yahoo chess server, playing a normal chess game, or loading a UCI chess engine to play.

Q: I'm getting an error when I try to start the program. "Chessy has encountered a problem and needs to close". What's wrong?
A: The software attempts to load an engine automatically when it starts. It reads the data from the settings/engines.ini file and if it can't find the engine location listed in that file it will crash with that error message.

Q: Do I need to install .NET framework to run STUCI Windows?
A: Most likely, if you're running a modern and updated operating system, the framework will already be installed. However, if for some reason the user does not have it installed (usually though Windows Update), then they can download it at: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... b15c5e04f5

Concerning STUCI and why it's never really done... here's a metaphor: Instead of being a construction worker, I'd rather be an architect.
Losing too many games because of a slow PC? No problem, nUCI it!
